Ubud:

No trip to Bali is complete without venturing inland to the cultural haven of Ubud.  Rice paddies surround the town and the sounds of Balinese ceremony and smells of incense fill the air.  Take a hint from us and extend your stay, kick back, and remain on Balinese time!

 

 

Eat:  

Three Monkeys:  sandwiches, fusion dinner

Kafe:  veggie food

Sopa:  Indonesian breakfast + brunch

Mama’s Warung:  Indonesian classics/ peanut satay is famous

Mozaic:  Gastronomy legend;  Cooking classes, private dinner experiences

Sari Organik:  farm to table, set amongst rice paddies, beautiful at sunset

Clear Café:  fresh organic fare + juice bar

Indus:  Mediterranean + great brunches, overlooks jungle on edge of town

Bali Buda:  veggie + curries + pizzas/ market and bakery on 1st floor 

Café des Artistes:  Belgian + French fare/ known for steak dishes/  reservations recommended

 

Stay: 

Como Shambhala Estate:  the most epic wellness retreat center set amidst a jungle backdrop

Uma by Como Ubud:  Another zen sanctuary from the Como Brand.  Just on the edge of Ubud, with beautiful gardens and wood carved cabanas.   

Soulshine:  Our beloved oasis surrounded by rice paddies and temples.  We simply can’t brag on Michael Franti’s creation enough and go back here to as often as we can to reconnect with our Balinese Family.

Ubud Palace:  cultural performances nightly/ shadow puppets/ lotus ponds 

Monkey Forest:  3 temples + cute grey-haired Balinese macaques

Mt. Batur:  volcano near Ubud

Tegallalang Rd.:  rice paddy terraces/ art + wood carvings

Seminyak Beach Town:  shopping, eating, beaches;  Jl Raya + Jl Oberoi;  drinks at Potato Head:  perhaps the best sunset in Bali in a beach club setting

Ulu Watu:  surfing, small quiet beaches surrounded by huge cliffs; Pura

Luhur Ulu Watu Temple

East Bali:  off the beaten path small villages/ hiking/ temples;  Sidemen Rd., Semarapura, Padangbai, Tenganan
